Fundamentals of Computing

This is the introductory session to the course aimed at helping those new to cloud computing to shore up on the basics of computing with regard to cloud computing. Topics covered include Compute, Storage, and Networking fundamentals as well as fundamentals of Linux, shell scripting and virtualization.


Getting Into the Cloud

AWS CLI, API and IAM

This section covers setting up your first AWS account, using the AWS CLI client and/or SSH to connect to your AWS account. It also covers the AWS API and its usage. The section ends with an overview of AWS Identity and Access Management, covering users, security groups and permissions.


Platform-as-a-Service

Putting the Blocks Together

This section covers the platform products offered in AWS including S3, RDS, Route 53, ELB, CloudFront, SES, SNS, etc. The focus of this section is to provide an overview of these products and guidance on how to integrate them into the cloud infrastructure for best performance. New products are continuously added to this section.


First Steps

Introduction to Cloud Computing

This section provides an introduction to cloud computing and the various offerings like public, private and hybrid cloud models. This section also covers the current market players in the cloud space and their relative performances and offerings in relation to AWS. This helps set the foundation for the rest of the course.


Setting Up Your Instance

Infrastructure-as-a-Service

This section deals with the core infrastructure related products of AWS, namely, EC2. The products covered include EC2 instances, their types, billing and resources, storage options, EBS, AMI, marketplace, VPC, and their integration and configuration. This section covers the entire infrastructure stack of AWS.


Orchestration at Work

Automating the Layers

The course ends with coverage on various service orchestration options provided by AWS including Auto Scaling, Elastic Beanstalk, Cloud Formation, etc. It also covers various continuous integration and deployment tools like Code Commit and Code Deploy. This is the final section of the course.
